Sobre este evento
Black Girl Speaks began as a one-woman show written, directed, and performed by Talitha Anyabwelé twenty years ago in Tallahassee, Florida. It has since expanded to a global movement that advocates for and amplifies the voices and stories of Black women. Through comedic and dramatic monologues, spoken word, choreopoems, and music, Black Girl Speaks tells the tales of Black womanhood. There is levity and joy, and there is the acknowledgment of our pain and plight. Audiences will leave empowered, restored, and engaged in conversations that help to elevate our community-at-large. Though the show has been performed multiple times globally, the exact script has evolved to remain relevant and engaging. This edition is dedicated to the evolution of the Grown Woman. It is best for ages 15 and up and for both men, women, and non-binary persons. In short, it is a love poem to Black Girls and womxn. If you are one or love one, this is for you.
