Pro tips before you register
Apply for Children's Trust early
Income-eligible? Apply in February — applications close in March and slots fill via lottery. The form is online; it takes ~30 minutes.
Confirm the calendar before paying
Most camps run 8–10 weeks but only allow weekly registration. Book the weeks you actually need childcare, not the whole summer.
Ask about aftercare
Park camps end at 5pm. Miami Beach goes to 6pm. Specialty camps usually end at 3pm or 4pm. Aftercare adds $30–60/week if available.
Bus pickup > driving
Camp Kadima, GEM, and several private camps have bus pickup from Doral, Aventura, Pinecrest. Saves you 90 min/day.
Check Children's Trust scholarships
Mid-range camps often have 5–10 partial scholarships funded by Children's Trust or AmeriCorps. Ask the camp director — they don't always advertise these.
Keep one weekly free day
Pair camp weeks with a free week of beach + library + splash pad. Kids burn out on structured camp by mid-July; a slow week resets them.
Track every camp's registration deadline
The Play Passport Miami app tracks 50+ Miami camps with current pricing, ages, and registration windows. Free, no signup wall.
